Castellamare di Stabia

Castellammare di Stabia, famous throughout the world for its shipyard is also renowned for its thermal spas. Its name derives from the medieval castle overlooking the sea and the ancient city of Stabia, which was destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius AD 79, along with Pompeii and Herculaneum. In Castellammare di Stabia you will find evidence of this catastrophe along with its famous Roman villas: Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna.

Vico Equense

Renowned for its gastronomy, from its "pizza by the metre" through to its four-star restaurants and delicious ice cream; Vico Equense has preserved much evidence of its history. Examples are the dell 'Annunziata church (the only Gothic church in the Sorrento Peninsula), the stunning landscape, the castle Giusso which overlooks the sea and was built as a defense for the town by Charles II of Anjou, the Campania Mineralogical Museum and the Antiquarium Silio Italico - an archaeological museum founded in 1966 that collects mainly funerary objects found in a necropolis discovered during the construction of buildings in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Monte Faito

Monte Faito is a mountain in the Monti Lattari, a small chain in the Campanian Pre-Apennines, in the Sorrentine Peninsula, southern Italy. It has an elevation of 1,131 metres from which you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the Gulf of Naples. With a pleasant freshness in summer and in winter a snowy mantle, Monte Faito is the ultimate choice for those who love the mountains and nature. Here you will find many rare plants, such as pinguicola Hirtiflora and Erica terminalis and many animals such as hedgehogs and moles. After a pleasant walk, you can cool off at the famous Sorgente della Lontra where sparkling water springs directly from the rock.

Sorrento

Set on a beautiful tufa terrace the town of Sorrento is a tourist centre of international renown. The main square, Piazza Tasso, is named in honour of the famous author of "Jerusalem Delivered" - Torquato Tasso - who was born in the town. From here you can stroll down Corso Italia, the most important street in Sorrento (which connects Piazza Tasso and Piazza Lauro Veniero) and which is full of boutiques and bars where you can enjoy the many gastronomic specialities of the region. Sorrento is also a major centre for connecting with local cities and neighboring islands, for instance the hydrofoils and ferries to Capri and Ischia leave from the local port – the Marina Piccola.

Capri

The Blue Grotto, the coastal stacks, green vegetation, unique places and spectacular views all make Capri one of the most famous and beautiful islands in the world. Ischia

Procida

Procida is a small and little known island but still deserves a visit. It is a volcanic island belonging to Flegrea area of Naples. As you arrive on the island you will find brightly colored buildings and streets in tuff and you will be enchanted by the heart of the island - the Terra Murata - with its medieval houses and castle.

Positano

Positano is a small village bursting with pastel coloured houses and surrounded by typical Mediterranean vegetation. If you love shopping, Positano is the right choice for you, since it offers a wide range of "Made in Positano" products ranging from ceramics to characteristic clothing.

Amalfi

Ravello

Ravello is one of the treasures of the Amalfi Coast and offers its visitors a pleasant and quiet atmosphere in addition to the uniqueness of its buildings. The first is built on a ledge and has a large garden displaying many varieties of flowers and which hosts concerts for the summer Ravello Festival, the second has a beautiful terrace with sea views.

Pompei

The most famous archaeological site in the world is right here - just steps from the Tetto Fiorito. Famous for its excavations and its Sanctuary, Pompeii can only be described as a tourist destination of world renown. You will certainly be charmed by the Roman remains still intact after centuries and the buildings dating back to a bygone era. The Sanctuary of the Virgin of Pompeii welcomes thousands of pilgrims, especially during the supplications of the eighth of May and the first Sunday in October.

Herculaneum

As well as Pompeii and Stabiae, even the ancient city of Herculaneum suffered what has become the most destructive volcanic eruption in the world. Contrary to the other two towns affected by ash, gas and lava; Herculaneum was buried under a thick pyroclastic layer (ash and gas) under which almost all objects have remained completely intact. Most famous is the Villa of the Papyri, which was discovered to contain statues in bronze and marble.

Vesuvius

Vesuvius is regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world due to its tendency towards explosive eruptions and the population of 3,000,000 people living nearby. Prior to our ancestors not realising that Vesuvius was a volcano, it was praised for its excellent wines and the beautiful flora. In fact Vesuvius attracts tourists not only to visit the crater but also for the Vesuvio National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which houses 612 vegetable species and 227 wildlife examples, including the famous "broom", praised by the famous poet Leopardi.

Campi Flegrei e Solfatara

The Phlegraean fields are located in the West area of Naples and occupy that part of the land between Posillipo and Cuma, including the islands of Nisida, Procida and Vivara. Unmissable are the fumaroles and mud pools including the most famous the Solfatara. The Solfatara is a shallow volcanic crater at Pozzuoli, near Naples. It is a dormant volcano, which still emits gas, jets of steam and tremors. The vapors have been used for medicinal purposes since Roman times. Unmistakable is the smell of sulphur which permeates these areas and which is remarkably similar to the stench of rotten eggs.
